International fashion retailer, Primark, is entering the esports industry with their new esports team, Primark Legends. They will be one of the six esports teams in Celebrity Esports’ new Superstar League starting in April 2021, with Love Island star Kem Cetinay and professional footballer and singer-songwriter Chelcee Grimes excited to join the roster for all seven fixtures. One lucky fan will be selected at random to join team captains Kem & Chelcee to compete against the other five celebrity teams across a variety of fun-filled video games in the hope of bringing home the gold for the high-street retailer.
Speaking of the tournament, Kem says, “I am so proud to be captaining the Primark Legends Team in the amazing new Celebrity eSports Series launching in April. As Primark MAN’s ambassador, I am delighted to hopefully lead the Primark Legends team to victory!”
Celebrity Esports seeks to bring a brand new esports experience to a mainstream audience whilst also providing a unique insight into celebrity homes and giving fans the chance to play video games with the biggest names in comedy, sports, television, music and entertainment. Viewers will be watching as much for the banter, laughter and rivalry between the teams as much as they will for the esports competition.
Commenting on Primark’s entry to Celebrity Esports with ‘Primark Legends’, Leo Skagerlind, CEO said; “Celebrity Esports is bringing gaming to a mainstream audience and we’ve opened the league up to the public so there’s an opportunity for fans to be involved too. We’re excited to have Primark on board, their passion and enthusiasm for the series and our mission has been amazing. No doubt they will have a big fan base getting behind the Primark Legends team, and we’re looking forward to watching Kem and Chelcee battle it out against the other teams!”
